Hi guys

Need to leave to Durban tomorrow morning and my usual mech is on holiday...need someone in the Jhb area that is open today that could replace my rear disc pads before I leave for Durban. Any help will be appreciated. Also advice on where I can purchase the disc pads will be required or I will try Autozone.

yip it did...the weather ain't too grand so would prefer to be safe...The thing is that I will also be going a bit past Durban, the Wild Coast to be exact....roughly 700-800km's away and doubt that I will find anyone there to do it...well a reliable person or workshop. then from there to Durban for a few days, then back to Jhb...so all in all...probably in for about 3500 km's at least...

ok, well good luck, cause I'm in Pretoria, so a bit out of the way.
might have been able to put you in contact with someone for the pads, but the workshop?? :dunno:
Hope all works out.
PS: how about you contact the dude's on the durban thread, and ask if someone in durb's can help you once you get there?? :thumb:

If I am not mistaken Midas should also sell the pads, you can also try goldwagen for the pads. You should also be able to get the sensors at goldwagen. You also have to replace the sensor that triggered the warning light, else it will stay on even with the pads changed.

dude...those are so easy to replace yourself (back ones) just a few screws, and the cables are easy clip out.
If this takes you an hour then you are really slow, even if you are not mechanically minded.

timing defintely sucks dude...was a last minute decision...

anyone in Durbs reading this, please pm me with a contact in Durbs, would like to do it on the 29th, going with another car to Wild Coast...

@MikeR, would have loved to give it a try if I wasn't in the holiday spirit. Even better if I had some sort of DIY manual.

Ensure that you get the correct pads. I replaced mine two weeks ago and they (spares shop) battled to find the correct pads. I found the correct ones for about R350 at a shop in Joburg. Midas quoted R800 and Im not sure if that was the correct ones. All supplier catalogues indicate incorrect pads (Ferrodo and Bosch). I can try to get contact details of the retailer if you still need it. Fitment is very easy providing you are not scared to get a bit dirty.

will appreciate if you can advise on the correct pad, part no. etc

Will hate to have the car jacked up and the wrong part.

What brand did you get? I was told Ferodo Platinum is the correct pad
