E90 Base Stereo Sound System

Hi Chaps,
I want to install an after market amp and sub to the base stereo system installed in my E90.
Are the rear speakers full range or only fed midrange and treble frequencies with the under seat subs being fed with only low frequencies ?
I ask this because it is easiest to tap into the wiring of the rear speakers fitted to the parcel rack rather than the underseat subs.
This will obviously not work if only mid and treble frequency ranges are sent to them from the head unit.
Any tips from anyone who has done this welcome !

Best thing is to fit a pre amp much more work but the control you get is 100s
