Check my thread out, i've installed a subwoofer in my 330i e90.

http://www.bmwfanatics.co.za/showthread.php?tid=28710

If your connections are correct and the sub is still not playing well, try opening boot and listen to the sub from the outside. I know its not idea but atleast you can hear and see if its playing properly.

If that's correct then you are going to have to cut out a section where the arm rest fits too allow sound to enter the cabin. BMW's are well insulated and don't allow any noise in. My subs crank, i had them in a hatch back before this, but in the BMW they were useless. However after cutting out a port in the armrest its much better but still not ideal. Expect bass but nothing hectic, the sound deadening still steals bass.

I'm running one twelve with a high to low converter and had the same issue. Found it was settings on the amp?

No need to cut if you out in a ban pass box!

@ ASH, where did you power your hi/low convertor i mean on the rear speakers or ?

I finished paying my car two months. now i wanna go a bit wild. First i want to install a good exhaust system.

Before i can start putting the exhaust there is some few question i want clarity? Is the someone who can advice

1. Is free flow an option?
2. Will it increase the vehicle power
3. Will the free sounds louder or just a deep bass bemmer sound

Basicall what can i install to get extra power from that straight six engine?

My car has the BMW Hifi system so there's subs under the seats, wanted to tap off there but was worried with regards to the input signal, as the subs receive a mono signal. So used the rear speakers as the installation manual suggested.

Will be doing a full exhaust and software on my 330 later on. Branches/headers need to be put in along with a fully decatted system to yield decent results. However don't expect miracals.

Guys,

Some pointers on this, you cannot just tap any source.

The rear fill is the wrong place to take it from.

Most of the standard cars is powered directly from the ASK (radio unit) and you have front stage, rear stage (which runs on a differant frequancy) and you also have a low range.

The design is for subs under the seats, although many cars do not have the subs in place, the wiring is still there.

I am busy with an install on the E60 as we squeak, and putting in an Audiocontrol LCR6, and going to make use of the existing system as well as replace the front stage, 2 subs, and putting 2x8" midbase drivers under the seat, all running from an AudioControl EQX.

I am hoping for supurb SQ.

Which of course is followed by porting and Dynamat of the boot.

Just remember, there is nothing worse then a BMW standing at the robot with every part rattling....

Port/channel and aim it correctly...

Here is the wiring diagram for the standard E90 obtained from WDS

As I mentioned my 330 got the Hifi system, where the head unit only give out a signal and not power. Therefore its easier to tap from the BMW HIFI amplifier, not sure about the standard system.

Here are some wiring diagrams as well:

Try taking the lineout from the subwoofer under the seat, ideally you want to be using a processor like audiocontrol/audison/360 RF
