My personal opinion is that a 320i is a waste of a BMW shell, its a huge heavy shell with a very weak engine in it which adds up to bad fuel economy, terrible over taking power and all in all a very boring ride with no Ooooomph, for a large amount of money. (That is just my opinion a 4 cylinder NA BMW is and always will be a big no no for me)

What kind of economy are we talking here with regards to the 335i? day to day driving, keeping to the speed limits on average?

Highway at 120kph cruising speed?

Gunning it around town robot to robot etc?

and gunning it on the highway?

My driving consist of 140km daily with 50% open highway and 50% of congested traffic. I gun it robot to robot, cruise at 140 open road, and gun it to 220 at least everyday once, my average is sitting on 11l/100km

Open road at 120, you will get it between 7-8l/100km, but I get that at 140 cruise control

My best is 10l/100km on my combined cycle without exceeding 160 on the highway and not gunning it at every robot

For a 335i power output that is very good consumption, my old 2002 E39 525i gunning robot to robot would sit on 15.6 + Average daily driving with hard and soft driving I would easily be sitting at 14.9. I got it to 11 for a while but that is seriously driving gently, most of the time foot off the accelerator lol

If your getting consumption like that in a 335i then I would consider selling my 330d at some stage and buying a 135i. which I would imagine would get slightly better consumption than the 335 due to it being slightly lighter?

My last tank is sitting around 12l, but I have been pushing along the R21 lately, BTW I had a good run with the new 320i, all I can say is WOW :praise:

A huge improvement in performance, I runs quickly to 200 :bravo:

Have been driving around a 335 LCI manual since December.
Came from a Z4M Cabrio...

Power and sprint times are very similar, still missing the NA ///M engine though...:inlove:
Handling not as good, but could be expected...
Comfort is a million times better.
Had no fuel pump issues, and mine is a late 2008 build (one of the first LCI's)
Mileage is around 12.2 - 13/100km depending on driving conditions.

Issues so far (63 000km):
1) Squeeky door seals (common 3 series issue)
2) Squeeky front left brake
3) Boot/rear window seal loose
4) Stone chips like mad (Le Mans Blue)

I would suggest skipping over i-drive (just giving Murphy more fail options)

3) Boot/rear window seal loose

Very common prob this on the E90 in general.... the stupid rubber always come loose, the dealers will sort on MP

The manual/auto debate is not so much which is the best. But which offers the best of both worlds. There are arguments in favour of both.

I recommend auto for this particular motor. The step autobox of the 335 is not the same box as for the normal e90. On the 335 it runs on different software to handle all that Tq. The auto tranny also handles the big power better 350Kw+

And the shifts are just awesome perhaps not as blistering quick as the DCT box but still much quicker than what you could acomplish with the manual box.

The autobox also gives you the pleasure of "paddle-shifting" If you go auto you MUST get the paddleshifts. And if you a regular in peak traffic there is nothing more comfortable than "D" mode.

There are more incidences of manual boxes packing up with some mods than the autoboxes. Autos start to slip when you hit 350+Kw @ the fly and over 700Nm but in my case this has not happened yet. Then again I dont drag my car. With this kind of power you try to launch in 2nd to reduce the stress on the box. Or reduce the Tq that goes to the wheels in first & second gear which can be managed with a piggyback tune.

Needless to say, stock 335s with manual or auto boxes have long lives

I see theres 3 people that voted NO.

May I ask why and the reasoning behind it please.

Me, myself and I voted for the 320i. It's an awesome car. If you're doing 121km/hr in a 320i and 120km/hr in a 335i, the 320i will be faster. FACT!

Even in a TLGP the 320i will always be in front, assuming you play fair. I.e. give the 320i a small head start of about 1km since it does not have a turbo or 2.

Hmmm, this stuff I'm smoking is pretty good - anyone want some :fencelook:

Is this head start of 1km on a 1,1km drag or 1,2km race? The outcome will be different in these scenarios :roflol:
