Hi guys,

I wonder if you can shed some light here. i'm in the process of buying an E90 335i. In the engine bay on the induction system there is a tag that staes 'BMW Power Kit.' What does this entail, power and how much does it cost?

Its usually SW upgrade, bigger fan or something like that and exhaust i think but stand under correction

I think last time i checked it was about R29 000

The power gains are not massive but you keep warranty and MP which is a bonus

I have the power kit too..

Its basically a revised ECU adding an extra 15kw or so and an extra intercooler and piping as a precaution.

The exhaust is not part of the power kit.

Thanks, so BMW does the upgrade but is it mentioned under the comments on your motorplan?

i highly doubt they would put a comment on one of their own options.

As far as i know, my car is comment free

Okay my poor choice of words. What I am actually saying that apart froma badge on the enigine bay that state 'BMW Power Kit' surely somewhere on their system they should have it recorded?

Now that is another story altogether, i tried to get the history of my power kit install from my dealer and they didnt know, doesnt show on the options list either. I then phoned BMW head office and they couldnt see it recorded on my car history either.

Apparently JSN is the only dealership that does those upgrades but i phoned them and they dont even keep a record so it really is anyone's guess as to how they record them.

I can see i have the sticker, extra intercooler etc so i know its there, i just cant trace the origin of where and when it was done.

Thats exactly the problem I have??? Surely they should keep a registry of what has been done to the vehicle? When the cars goes for a service, is it serviced like any other car or do they have to do something or add something different?

i think the only difference in servicing they really need to be mindful of is if they update the software on the ecu.

apparently it is a different ecu to the stock one so they probably cant make any flashing errors and detune your car accidentally.
