E90 335I advise

Guys,

Im going with the old man to BMW this afternoon to have a look at a 2008 E90 335i. It has 40 000 odd kms.

Any advise? what to look for ect? I have heard some bad points on the turbo problem that goes into limp mode.

Is this the case? Is a 335 a good choice?

Any advise welcome....Thanks

Best car in the world :) said in clarkson voice :)-seriously tho it's fun and fast, and very easy to tune/ mod

But what is the difference between the face lift and pre? Engine wise.

Just worried about any conman issues.

This is going to be my old mans car so i guess mods are out of question lol

Wonderful all round car! can be tame when u want it to be or a beast if you need it to be.Fuel pumps were a problem but bmw have seemed to have sorted it out and at that mileage dont think you'll have any mechanical issues for a long time.Good buy,you won't be sorry:thumbs:

Thanks bro.....

He has a choice on getting a NEW 323i MSport for around R400k or the 08 335i M Sport for R337K.

Im trying to get him to swing the 335 way so i can buy it from him after a year HEHEHEHEHEHE

The facelift comes with the n55 engine i.e the single turbo and the pre facelift came with the n54 engine i.e the twin turbo.bmw claims that both engines, different as they are, have the same output. If modding is not an option dont think it will make a difference to your decision

Tell him to take the 323 if he is an "old man" like me and like you say he is...he will love your for that decision. I love the 335 period. But it is the second turbo charge car that came out of the bimmer stable and BMW experimented with it; it has its moods. If he can handle the moods of the car for many years then fine. But if he just wants it to be easy the 323i should be the choice.

Yeah i agree with twinz! Another thing to consider is that the new 3 series is not that far off and i wouldnt fork out 400k+ at this point in time,so personally i would go the 335 route and in that you both win lol

335i has had high pressure fuel pump issues, ask the salesman if the car was recalled for any repairs and ask them which generation of 335i cars were recalled. Also ask for a mantaince history on the car, still within motorplan but you will want to know as much as possible.

ask for the cars history to start with and work back. but its a good ride for the price.

new is new so i will go for the 323i, nothing is as solid as a new car, a used 335 no matter how clean will be "driven"... good luck boss:=):

Thanks for all the comments guys....Went and test drove yesterday....

The problem we did was drive the new 323i first then the 335i. For some reason you could feel that the 335 did not drive as good as the 323. Cos it was new.

But the old man does not like auto so it put him off.....

Well will see what happens

So my dad just signed a deal for a demo E90 323i Sport Pack. Sunroof the works....

Plus its white....Think that was the better choice.....

And they gave him a good trade inn for his MAzda....So it all worked out....
