e90 330i feeling sluggish before 4500-5000rpms

Hi guys, just wanted to know if this is normal? Just bought the car monday night. The car is kinda dead before 4500-5000rpms , but after that then it's like vanos kicks in and goes very nicely. But if I'm driving in any gear and put down before 4500-5000rpms the car would take extremely long to get there but when it gets there then it picks up nicely like it has a mode or something. Is this normal? Any feedback appreciated.

Hi, friend of mine had the same thing with his 06 330i, including hesitation when pulling off. He had the cats removed and it's like a new car again.

I'd check the vanos solenoids checked out and cleaned first. Common problem on the N52 motor. Best of luck.

Get your codes read and clean your vanos solenoids I had the same issue , found "solenoid mechanical stuck codes ", cleaned it out and problem solved .

There is lots of DIY's on this
