E90 330 uncomfortable

Hi,

Hope you guys can point me in the right direction. I bought my first BMW, a E90 330d 2006 in January from a friend of a friend

Anyways, it has the M package, 19" custom import wheels and seems to have been lowered. It looks amazing, but it is ridiculously bumpy (any bump almost hurts your back). So far I have replaced the rear suspension at supa quick as it failed the shock test, the front was still above the "replaceme" margin.

Any idea what I can do to improve the ride comfort? Someone told me that 18" wheels would be better, but I've read on the forums of guys saying that their 19" wheels were better than the 18 or even 17's that they upgraded from.

Do you have RFT's on the car or normal tyres?

Got normal tyres on it, Kendra is the brand.

265 / 30 / 19 on the back and 235 / 35 on the front

Would need to see what sort of drop it has and drop kit was used.

19's plus a drop will make it hard if not done correctly.

30 profiles with a stiff spring can be bumpy...changing to an 18" wheel won't do much even if it is 40 profile instead of 35 if the spring is shit.

Forget that it's uncomfortable, it looks epic :cartel:

I would find out from previous owner what kit was used and where it was done. Then you can take it from there.

It will be bumpy if the dampers cannot control the springs

Best would be to 1st verify what springs are on the car from the look of it they seem to be good springs because in general the cheap springs lower the car way to much and this car does not look too low

I got 19's on my 330d e90 2007 model.

235/30/19 front
265/30/19 rear

I'm not getting that bumpy experience at all.

Check the spring setup, tyres(runflat vs normal) and tyre compound(harder compound vs softer compound)

mine is on 275/30/19 rear,245/35/19 front on stock m/sport suspension and have no problems with it being bumpy.

I drive past Rietvlie dam with it and that road is really bumpy,no problem at all,more comfortable than the 18 inch I had on the car,but those were RFT,and more comfortable than my old e90 323i with 16inch RFT on it

check what shock/coil set up is on it,chat with Sean at Axis,he will be able to help you

Thanks for confirming your setup and that the 19" isn't the issue.

I'm pretty sure I will be able to solve the ride issues now and at least not waist time on changing wheel sizes just to want to change it back again.

Used to drive a 2.0 diesel 2007 focus. Back in the day it used to drop the 320d's... But got tired of it and always wanted a much better and bigger diesel like the 330. Was eyeing the 530d but after I compared maintenance prices I gave up on the 530d.

50 profile yeah, but typical american hard suspension. Cornered well, but quite bumpy. Most american cars I've been in are usually catered towards their much smoother, better condition roads : [[

Forgot to send an update.

Ended up getting rid of the 19"s. Replaced them with M4 18"s, I think they are replicas as to my knowledge the style I got is supposed to only come in 19"

I opted for 235/40 in the front and 265/35 in the back. I went this route instead of the standard 225/40 & 255/35 as it should be a bit more comfortable/softer.

Conclusion: The ride comfort has improved a great deal. I can finally drive faster than 1km/ph over speed bumps
