Hi Bud, I was at Ross Duncan in Midrand the other day and he said the most common problem is the actual Vanos filters which get blocked up and it’s not the Vanos unit that fails where about are you based?

Issues definitely seem very very similar!!

A stack of things can go wrong; varying from sensors, to leaking inlet manifold to even a broken bolt on the crank shaft puley, affecting performance.
Start with a diagnostic for about R250.

Bad plug, or perhaps a coil pack? Misfires will show up in the diagnostic test.

Hey guys firstly i want to apologise for the delay.
Secondly thank you very much for all the replies.

@frikkieh the car is in abd out at smg and i have no idea what they do to it because sometimes it's there for 2 to 3 days and they don't say that they pick up any faulty codes and we did have them check plugs and coils.

@v.r.sexy6 i think you and my dad are experiencing the exact same problem and i feel for you on this one really it's frustrating aas hell.

@Nikhil thank you for the fast reply i'm based in CT buddy but i will be looking into that.

Guys i just want to once again thank you all very much for the replies hopefully this issue will be sorted because it's the really terrible:argh:

6 X Ignition Coils
6 X Spark Plugs (Correct Item,NO INFERIOR PARTS)

but let's see what happens after the coils and plugs are replaced
I'm seriously hoping they get yours sorted because i know what a pain it is..

I had the same issues on my E90 325i. After 3 frustrating visits:-
1. vanos valves cleaned - no joy
2. oil short, filled up still no joy
3. turned out to be the lamdar sensor

All the best!

Hey Tareeq,

What do you mean by misfiring? What I've been experiencing the past year or so is when when my car idles, the idling is not smooth. The rev needle tend to take a dip, as if the car wants to switch off.

Is this what you're experiencing?

Thanks

hey sorry about the delayed response it's exactly like v.r.sexy 6's problem on cold start the car has a flat spot and then you i have to switch it on and off again and sometimes while i drive then it will missfire.
It does dip now and then.

Mine drives fine but the idle is not smooth. Booked in a couple of times but they never seen to experience it when they test the car.

I'm beginning to wonder whether they know what to check.
