E90 323i auto

Friend of mine is looking at buying a 2007 E90 323i auto with about 123k on the odo. I assume it is the 2.5l motor? How good are these engines and what consumption can he expect. See it was at 12,7l/100kms when we test drove it yesterday. Also, tappets were very noisy on first start up (seller said it was due to car not having run for a week??) but after the test drive was sweet as a nut! Is it a good buy at R115k? Thanks for any replies/advice!

My Mrs has one although hers is a manual.
That consumption seems right for the auto, the manual ranges between 10,5 and 11,2 but this is town driving only.

They not bad, don't expect it to be a speed machine but it's not bad to run around with.
We've had it for almost 4yrs and the only issue so far was to replace the vanos solenoids.
Apart from that it's been regular services.

As well as a fuel hose that decided to let go for no apparent reason.

The clackity sound you get on start up is the vanos and not lifters and most of them do it.

Not a bad car.

O ya how could I forget the fuel hose.
My wife loves the car and Peter has a love hate relationship with it lol

Which part of the fuel hose came loose? Does the vanos do it every time you start it or only on standing for a few days/day or two? How do you replace the solenoids or are you talking about the vanos seals?
