Ah ok. Thanks for the warning Subloaded. I'm still learning everyday abour the car.
I had all the chips on the paint work repaired and sprayed, and now it is nearly in the condition I want it.

+1 10 000km/1 year intervals is going to be much better for your car

Sorry. Thanks Hammerhead. We do about 9000 km's in a year. I'm on the road for a month at a time.
So basicaly the wife is driving it daily

We bought a 2011 E90 320i a few weeks ago, currently @ 150K. We love absolutely everything about the car, as we wanted a good family sedan. My only issue is fuel consumption 10.5l/100km, its a automatic.I just wonder after reading now,how come some use much less fuel than that? I basically cruise with the car,as we have my 2month old son on-board most of the time.

Nice, its the auto box. generally with auto you use more fuel. I have auto, 2011 320i LCI aswell and im on 12.2l/100km now

I have noted that when I use semi-auto/step/manual (whatever you want to call it) and control shifting I can bring it down but then whats the point of having auto

Lol, tell me something I don't know...seems that the 320D is much better yes. Well to late 4me now. I had a choice between the 2 and the 320i had FSH,fresh from MP and the 320D didn't(which was actually my 1st choice).

I didn't really try the steptronic (automatic /manuel ) shift yet,will surely try and observe,thanks

Ah so nice to read these posts and share similar stories.

I have an Auto LCi 320i for just short of 5 years now, 187000km
Its no robot racer nor is there any hint of excitement, but it gets the job done.

Only major issues I've had was valve stem seals and a door lock/actuator.
Was painful to pay so much for the valve stem seals but I figured it was less painful than a new car.

It gets serviced on time, it gets driven well and taken care of and it has done the same for me.

It has a retractable tow bar, iDrive, and all the standard features. I figure it can still be good for another 3 years before I consider an upgrade - there isnt much out there at the moment that i particularly like, the F30 is ok but i will wait for the F30 LCI to come down in price a bit more in around 3 years time.

We just did a road trip with our 2011 E90 BMW 320i,before I left the on board consumption showed 10.5l/100km... while I was on the road I did reset the consumption reader/indicator. We drove 920kms and the consumption was mostly between 6.5-8l/100km,which was great for long distance. A few times on inclines/hills it went more than 8litre but then dropped back to 7.5l. I didn't even shift to manuel becuz automatic was best for long distance,atleast according to me.

I'm so glad I found this section, I hadn't bothered introducing myself in the New member's section due to having a 2009 BMW 320i and not 330i or F80 M3 etc.

I can relate to alot of everything here, I bought mine at around 80k almost a year ago this August, it's just reached 128k kms now, I drive quite a bit.

My radiator was just replaced last week, R6300 but the Bluechip warranty I had sorted that out. Thankfully!!! The old one literally was cracking at the seams.

Other than that, I feel a slight jerk in the car when driving slow sometimes and on times I've had a weird jump feel when driving on the freeways or open roads, which is not good, maybe misfiring? spark plugs?

Also, I've been looking at getting new tires, I currently have the 205/50/R16 run flats but they feel terrible. Anybody else swapped out there run-flats? also, I know newer BM's come out with staggered wheel sizes, 225/40 in the front and 255/35 in the rear, I would like to do this on my 320 but upgrade to 18's with the E90 M rims to go with the tire sizes.. I know it would improve the driving comfort but would it do anything to fuel consumption? impact it in a negative way at all because they are not the 205/50's?

Interesting to also know the 330i uses the same amount of fuel, I love my car but I'd also love to own a 330i coupe maybe a bit more..

I am a former 320i LCI manual owner my car had just under 100000km before I sold it.

One of the potential buyers that bought it plugged in an OBD scanner and the cats showed up as an issue. Other than that I had no issues. Car was nippy but if you planning on a daily driver then its great if you a robot to robot racing kind of guy you will definitely be disappointed. If I was you I would get a low mileage one.

As for it being unreliable look at the n54 motors has the performance but it can also be an expensive buy if you get the wrong one.

What I do suggest is swap to non runflat tyres and get the model with the Xenon package
