E90 320i whining noise on start up

Hi all

I drove back from dbn today and after starting the car at the villiers one stop i noticed that there is a sort of whining\rubbing sound from start up. It only does it on start up and lasts for about 30 seconds and then quitens down.

To me it sounds like its coming from the timing chain\valvetronic motor\eccentric shaft sensor area.
Took it to a local mech in Edenvale and he says it could be the aircon pump causing it. However, the noise is there with the aircon both on and off.

No warning lights on the dash. The car does not overheat.

Any ideas on what the issue could be.

Did you have the same symptoms as mine?

As i said it only does it on start up for about 30 seconds and then quitens down

I know it sounds strange but thats whats happening

My bearings were knocking on idle.
No whining\rubbing sort of noise.

Best you have it checked out.
