E90 320i taking water

Hi guys,

I have noticed in last 2 weeks that my 320 is taking water every 10days.
The coolant light is coming on. I have not noticed any water leaks
How can I trace the fault. Please advise

if you're not seeing any traces of coolant anywhere around the engine bay, then you could take the car in to get the cooling system pressure tested to see if theres a possible leak. im not too familiar with e90 common leaking places.. but im sure someone will chime in soon.

also, confirm if you're using coolant and water mix, or straight water when you're refilling?

Did you just fill up the water when the light came on or did you bleed the car?

I presume not the latter so read this otherwise the car will continue to use water (which you cant see where it is and continue to overheat).

PS: From the E36 up to now these cars cant just be topped up with water when the light comes on, you need to bleed the water :rollsmile:

one of the guys in our office had a similar issue where by his E90 335 was using water.. Upon further investigation we found that the expansion bottle was leaking
