E90 320i Radiator woes

Hi Guys, I'm in need of some dire help/advice.
I drive a 2006 E90 320i, I've noticed that the radiator has a leak on one of the plastic tanks. As a result (I think) the cooling fan is activated for long periods but I do not have a warning light for low coolant level coming on. A friend told me that these plastic tanks on the sides of the radiator are replaceable but I seem to doubt. Is it better to replace my radiator or these so called tanks? Do you guys perhaps know where around PTA/JHB area I could get a radiator replacement/repair for a fair amount?

I would suggest taking it to have a pressure test done to diagnose where/how bad the leak is.

Then decide on the repair process.

I have had a plastic tank replaced on an opel radiator. which is a similar design to the bmw one. I actually initially stuck it with pratley putty and it never leaked again. I just replaced the tank eventually to be safe. I also had a leaking core replaced another time and they guy used my old tanks.

Have you checked the coolant level manually ? If not suggest you do quick smart.

Secondly take it to the closest Silverton radiators let them have a go at changing it for you. By it I suggest the whole rad, not just the tank(s). Lastly make sure you use BMW coolant when they refill.

I would say get a new radiator, things like that you dont want to mess with. try Tombo Radiators in JHB 011 680 5692 ask for Dario if you interested.

Agree with nic.

Just remember coolant loss = air pockets in the system if the levels get too low.
