E90 320d tailpipe mod question

ok so MP nearly up and want to get rid of the ugly downturned 320d exhaust tip for now the cheap way by just getting a y piece and 2 tips on..found a guy who does them quite nicely and has done them before on 320's and it looks good..only if I straighten the downturned pipe it apparantly causes your back end to get more soot on it..Id like to know if anyones done this mod and how much soot actually gets on your car?..if it's negligible or requires 2 washes a week instead of one Im taking the chance and putting them on..also does straightening the downturned exhaust tip result in any other negatives?...thanks guys

Not a problem when you're the car in front :fencelook:

Anyway, on a serious note, just make sure the tips extend a bit further than the end of the diffuser/bumper and you should have no issues with soot on your car.

I think some of the diesel Audis have straight pipes too.

Thort about this one from autostyle? It looks so good and definitely won't leave your bumper looking sooty, also as your car is going out of plan when ou do decide to decat/PDF u going to get more soot out the rear end so this will be a future advantage...

thats also very tru..when decatted it might bellow..but then again some ppl says it doesnt bellow even after decat/filter removal..think the fuel quality plays a lil part as well..lol hope they give us cleaner fuel..tho I'm tryin to go onto a straight tailpipe, if it's impossible I'l stay on the standard as my tip is still shiny like new..didn get all black like some of them..lol

I also did mine.
You can also look at fitting dummy piece at the end, that way you don't have to worry about cleaning it.

wont I pick up crap from BMW?

with MP it's always better to speak to them and get it in writing if they say go ahead..this is a tiny mod so i rely dont see how it can effect MP..but rather be safe than sorry..also it is reversible..exhaust shop says theyl do and if I don't like it theyl reverse it with the only downside of having a tip lying around (can always sell it though)..

That's what she said haha :roflol:
But seriously, it will cause some black soot, but if you wash your car regularly it won't be an issue, looks way better anyway :)

haha..anyway I gave powerflow edenvale a ring today..theyv done a few apparantly and it doesn't rely cause that much soot either to be a prob..like msm said, if it's out far enough it'l be fine  ..as sometimes you only get a chance for one wash a week
