Which would be more economical to run ?

Golf/polo TDi or a E90 320d

Both are similar prices which I find strange.

Budget is about 100k
I just need a car to run me for a year or so...

If i have to choose between Polo and Bmw well its a no brainer for me.

If i have to choose between a 1.9 tdi and 2L 320D again its a no brainer for me.

If i have to choose between maintenance of 1.9 and 320D only spending 2k a year for a service. Again its a no brainer for me.

Space, Performance, safety, power, torque, Luxury, need i mention more.

Yes i am a fanatic.

You are comparing one of the most reliable and solid cars BMW ever build, to a polo. IMO.

O and did i mention you can put a elephant in the boot/trunk. not to mention tow 3, provided you can fit them into a trailer.

enough said.

What concerns me is the runner flaps, loo roll.

What are the prices of cv joints, bearings etc

320d for R100k?

If you want an unbiased opinoin, this forum probably isn't the right place lol.

look at service and maintenance costs etc. then decide if it's within your budget, remember, a car is only reliable if maintained properly

Do your homework, owning a BMW is nice if you can afford it.

If you go either route, make sure to get an aftermarket warranty.

As for the CV joints, The 320d is rear wheel drive so it does not have cv joints, maybe someone here can shed light on the cost of parts etc on a 320d, but for a polo it is relatively cheap at the agents.

I'm in the same boat now, looking at getting a Sportline / gti or a 320d, I've always wanted a 330d but think it will cost more, so I would like a 320d.

I know this has been said "a car is only reliable if maintained properly" but is it fine to buy a car with say 95k km - 140k km 320d that is now.

What does a service cost (Oil, Inspection I and II) :fencelook: Discs and pads, tyres...

And then Auto vs. Manual is there any big problems there? Anyone had to replace a clutch or some sort?

Sorry for the thread Hijack
