Hi guys and ladies,
So Saturday, I was out working as usual. Drove the car as normal. I got home round 00:00 and parked her.
On Sunday I needed to go somewhere, but noticed some liquid laying on the ground. I then opened the bonnet to check and upon closer inspection, on the bottom engine cover, it turned out to be oil. I checked the oil level via dipstick and it was bone dry!
I got no warning lights or any strange noises the previous night.
Anyway, Monday came, I had the car towed to a certain workshop (Name withheld as I don't want it to seem as if I'm bashing them). Tuesday I called them to check up on the car and if warranty will cover whatever was wrong. I got the shock of my life when I heard that my bill is R21k
So, the Oil Filter housing failed which I heard is a common issue on these cars, but the parts being replaced include: Oil Filter housing, Oil Cooler, Oil cooler gasket, Gearbox cooler, Gearbox cooler thermostat, engine oil, oil filter, sump plug and coolant.
Does the above seem right?
My warranty only covers the oil cooler
, but I gave the go ahead for the repair as I was thinking that all these parts somehow play a role in the long life of the car and gearbox and if it didn't need replacing, at least it's done now.
