So my 8.9 would be.... very bad :fencelook:

It would seem you use more going up to joburg. I suppose its more uphill.

I got 5.5l/100km down to DBN in my 330d, and coming up was 6.9l/100km with some very spirited driving, hitting 2xx at times.

So IMO, the 320d seems a bit on the heavy side.

I got 5.2 on my trip down to EL, cruise control on 140km/h. around here in city traffic I get 5.7-5.8

That sounds like the consumption you should be getting from a 320d - the OP's one seems a bit high

Yes i did.

Is it maybe cos I was 3 adults and 1 child and also boot full up?

Well only got the car past december, and also it is due for service in 6000km according to the obc. Could that be a factor?

Hi Guys

Did another trip down, and this time got
Jhb - Dbn 6.0l/100km @ 125km/h (as per obc)
Dbn - Jhb 6.2l/100km @ 123km/h (as per obc)

Also to note this was the first trip down only on the N3, I normally take the old roads here and there to avoid toll and pigs! So my previous posts were also travelling on old roads, I'm sure that influenced the consumption. But even still my consumption seems higher than most on here. Service due shortly, hope that helps...

For your average speed to be 125km/h on the obc mean you would have got to durban in under 5hours( excluding stops). Whats speeds were you travelling? The faster you got the heavier it will be.

My average speed down to durban is around 100-105km/h on the OBC and my cruise control is set on 120-125 in 120 zones, 105-110 in 100 zones and 85 in 80 zones

That sounds a bit high. Overtaking and driving with a heavy foot? 125 is quite a high average.

A few trips to the cape (Knysna twice and Cape Town) I averaged 5.4l/100km (both ways) driving 125 all the time except when hampered or overtaking (or having fun). Coming north from George, I went up the N12 to Kimberly and averaged 4.6 on the N12 with the cruise control set to 130 for the most and 190 for a number of km.

All trips with driver +1 and full boot and bags on the back seat. Also note: 2005 320d E90 manual.

I also made a trip to Dbn and back, but I can't remember the exact figures. Weren't much different from those to the cape.
