Hi All ,

I have 2005 320d Steptronic that has an intermittent flat spot especially when taking off from stand still or if I reduced speed almost to a stop and then need to accelarate again . BMW dealers always maintain nothing wrong with the turbo whilst on motorplan . The car now has 138 000km with the problem persisiting although its adhoc ...

Any help / suggestions what it could be ? Thanks.

I've read that flat-spots occur on some 320D's at around 2000RPM's. An ECU remap usually sorts the problem out.

Also have the same problem on my 2005 320d (150000k). Loss of power just below 2000rpm. and then back to normal. Cant diagnose what it is because the problem is not always there. Could it be anything else besides an ECU remap ?

It could just be one of the vacum pipes on the turbo, this usually causes an occasional flat spot especially when taking off from standstill and its particularily noticable with the steptronic. My brother had the same on his e46 330d, cost about R3000 for parts and labor at BMW.
