E90 320d guys running sw

Finding out for a friend.

He is currently looking at putting software on the car, the question is does bmw trace the sw?
How many guys here running sw on their 2010 320d's?

He can also consider a piggyback that only requires him to plug-in two plugs. No cutting or splicing. Just a plug that sits on top of the motor. Childs play to install or emove. A 5 min install job. And it does the same as s/w if not better. He can contact Rennzport for this.

About his concern if "chipping" is traceable by BMW...please tell him he should not be tuning his car if under MP....
