E90 320D Gearbox issues help needed

Hi Guys

i am in need of some assistance / advice :dunnoanymore:

i bought my car on 140 xxx km and she always had a odd shift every now and again but i brushed that off as a qwerk of the car. ZF pinned the issues to a faulty IBS and wheel speed sensors. The wheel speed sensors are faulty as confirmed by a read out.

so i just ignored it because it was not a constant thing fast forward almost 2 years and 50 000km later my aftermarket warranty is about to lapse so i thought let me have the issue re assessed as my battery is F##ked and i am busy fixing everything i can. ZF said that based on the milliseconds it takes to shift my B and E clutches are worn and need to be replaced for a whopping R34 000 +. My car is throwing numerous error codes due to the battery being stuffed so can this not affect these readings as well?

Some of my friends recommended a XHP flash saying that the software should solve these issues of weird shifting and gears slipping but according to ZF the flash could cause problems as to much line pressure could crack the "Drum" i think they referred to it as. Has any one with XHP flash ever heard of this? :fencelook:

Any other things that could cause my issues?

PS. Please let me know what the process is of replacing the battery and the best place to source one thanks guys :ty:

Andre sort the issues you have on the car before you add gearbox sw. xhp wont solve your problem it will make it worse! Shifts gets quicker and harder. Not worth it on a fucked box!

That's where the confusion is. How would i know if the box is faulty or if it just a sensor or some gearbox SW issues? Everything is Speculation at the moment. What else could cause these issues? ZF said base on the milliseconds of the shifts the clutches are worn but all other read outs and tolerances are normal?

ZF is the best in the business, if they say the box needs a rebuild with new clutches then that is the route to follow.. R34k is not bad, you only really do this once in a car's reasonable lifespan.

Was a gearbox service done? If so, has the values detoriated since then? If. It then sort out battery, get all other codes sorted and check again.

I assume if the clutches are worn, zf is advising against a service now? The worn clutches are not directly going to give you the jerky shifts but you will notice the delay when changing gear and the time it takes to lockup
