E90 320d decat and back box

Hi guys. The tailpiece on my 2011 320d hurts my feelings everytime i look at it. It literally ruins the rear end of the car. I figured while i get that sorted i might as well decat if its simple enough. Current mileage is 125k.

There have been similar posts but not really finding clear answers (please forgive me, this is my first diesel)...

1. Do i need to fit a rear box or can i just do muffler delete with a tailpiece, is back pressure an issue? Would the car throw any errors requiring a remap?

2. Does my car have a dpf?

Thanks

Howsit bud,

I have an '09. our cars have a DPF. I am planning to have this removed and having a down pipe installed. with regards to the back box, im hoping some of the veterans could offer us some guidance as this is also my first diesel. As far i know we can do a straight pipe however its best to do software from what has been explained to me.

I have an 09 320d lci...... I did decat , downpipe and removed the middle box only.

Driving normally the car is pretty quiet.... sounds standard.... but once you floor it the sound is quite good...... no droning horrible sound while cruising on the highway.

Oh yes ... I also have had the software done.

What area you in ?.... I'm in Jhb.... if you want to meet and see and hear the sound for yourself...... let me know:thumbs:

Thanks for the info guys, and thanks for the offer Claudio, im in cpt though.

No cash at the moment for software as i've just done shocks, springs and tyres :dunnoanymore:

Was hoping i could do some cheapie exhaust mods for now and then do the proper downpipe and remap early next year. Will just fit a decent freeflow backbox to get rid of the hideous tailpiece.
