E87 1 Series

I am considering buying a 1 series 2006 model 320d manual but it has no speed control which is one of my criteria as I mostly do long distance and need that. I googled the retrofitting of speed control and was wondering if any one on the forum has done it. My main concern is the stalk that is needed for the cruise to work. Will a E90 stalk with slip ring fit as 1 series cars are few (I have not seen one at Barnett's scrap yard in Bellville)? Advice/info will be much appreciated, thanks. The coding should not be a problem I hope(calling Chris Brandt)!

Let's just nip this in the bud.

There is no such thing as a "1series 320d". I believe you are referring to a 120d.

A 320d is a 3 series with the same/similar Diesel engine as a 120d.

Was looking at the 120d manuals as i am after economy but am not sure what to do. My heart tells me go 330d and my common sense tells me 320d or 120d for economy. Still undecided! How good is the 120d 2006 E87 cars?
