discussion E85 cigarette lighter not suitable for phone charging?

Hi

I was advised that the stock cigarette lighter socket is not powerful enough to charge a cell phone. I need to change the socket or the fuse?

Anyone can please advise.

it takes forever especially if you use to fast charging, I use to keep a powerbank in the cubby.

Apparently BMW offered a retrofit back in the late 00s to enable better charging with this socket.

Takealot sells a Samsung fast car charger that also works well although I did not use this in the Z but may work.

Update

The 357 fitted a new, stronger current fuse and the charger now works like a bomb 💣.

I don't have the tech specs, but it was relatively cheap and fast charging is a breeze.

It would be handy if you could get hold of the amperage rating for the new fuse.

Pretty sure I have the same issue in my E82

Both the cigarette lighters in my F25 have stopped working. Could it be a faulty fuse?
