Hi Guys

Wanted to ask any of the guys that have or owned the E83 X3 for there feedback.
My dad is going to view a 2005 X3 3.0D with M Sport Pack ,car has 149 000KM , full service history .He currently has a Jeep 3.7 Petrol and its a petrol guzzler , he only does about 22km a day so not to much mileage, but with the jeep its costing him about R600 - R700 a week:thumbdo:

I have never driven one of these ( X3) before or know anyone that has owned one.

Your knowledge is appreciated .

Will do a check on the car once he has gone to view it and test drive and confirm if he likes it or not.

Many Thanks

My dad owned one for many years. It was a 2006 3.0d Auto.

He purchased it at 17k km and sold around 228k IIRC.

In that time the only major thing that was replaced under motorplan was the transfer case. After motorplan he serviced at 10k km intervals and not a single thing went wrong. Stock turbo etc. was all still working perfectly.

The consumption (averaged around 8.5-9l/100km with mixed driving), power, size and how planted it is due to X-drive really makes it a very good car. To this day he still considers it as the best car he’s owned.

Obviously it’s no new car, so give it a proper once over and check for common faults (i.e. turbo condition, dampner pulley etc.) before purchasing the vehicle.

Wanted to say - Transfer case... They only take 1.2L of oil and its in your best interest to have that changed the moment you get the car. Was common on that gen X3 and X5's.
