You Sir are living on borrowed time...

I would just replace it to avoid being stuck, unless you just want see how far you can go!

Indeed

Might just give it till 130k km then change. What are some of the signs that it could be on its way out?

If there is then I noticed nothing and my car was in for a holiday health check last week that it passed with flying colours... so ja, if the experts can't see it less than a week from failure maybe sooner is better than later.

Well when mine eventually went.

I was getting a strange thermostat code on the JB4, never came up all the time and i could clear the code.

Could be one of the signs.

But these things just go without warning.

Get them to check your battery as well. Sounds crazy I know but if battery voltage down amperage goes up and can affect things like the electric motor on the water pump.

Got my car back this morning and very happy with auto bavaria's service.

Added a pic of the fuel consumption of the rental 320i and must say did pretty well on my usual commute. I didn't thrash the car as it's not mine and I don't feel like risking coughing up R10k insurance excess for the sake of trying to race 320i. It doesn't have a lot of power though I guess it drives well enough. I still can't get used to the F30 lci steering feel, it's very numb and provides very little feedback. Sadly it's a sign of the times, very happy I have my E82 with its hydraulic power steering back!! Just so much better in both feel and feedback.

Failed waterpump, so was replaced along with the thermostat. No damage was caused to the head or engine so nothing else to worry about. Well have another year of plan left so if there is another issue that crops up should be taken care off.
