So got to loading the MHD app on my phone and played around on it

Initially i wanted to check for faults etc and maybe log the car.

How ever the temptation of loading a stage 1 file was to much.
So i went to my mate shop in Edenvale. Although i did base run at KAR i used Jerrys Dyno as we had time to mess around.
I had some spirited driving with a fellow member prior to the dyno.

We tied the car down and left the dyno fan on to cool the car down..
I loaded the stock file i initially backup on the mhd app and did a pull...

Mods list
DCi intake
PCV valve
lower thermo cooler
Charge pipe with HKS BOV
Bottle of black nf on 3 quater tank

Initial pull gave me 178 wkw and 426 nm..Although i was despondent the dyno is very stingy compared to KAR as i made around 9 percent less on this dyno with my 330d compared to KAr.

How ever i wanted to see the difference loading a stage 1 flash would make.

We left the fan on while i flashed the stage 1 file...Took 2 minutes to flash...
No other changes were made on the car on the next pulls.

Rob was there and can verify.

we made 3 pulls on the car ..

After 220wkw and 487 nm

For a simple generic flash and for the cost of the app etc i am more than happy..Graph looks nice and smoothe and the car seems to like the changes..
On the road the car feels way better more responsive...

Would reccomend the app to anybody with an N54 looking for a slight increase in power.

When i have fitted Bigger IC and done Dp i will try there stage 2 file..

In the long run i will probably get a custom file from a tuner but for now a very happy camper.

I will re dyno at KAR to verify results..

This is in no way a post to say a simple mhd app is better than any tuner etc but simply to illistrate what is out there and the results yielded.

The ability tp monitor your car or change things on the fly within reason is awesome. OR TO LOAD A STOCK FILE WHEN THE WIFE DRIVES THE CAR LOL.
Once you pay for the Stage 1 file you then have a few options you can change to suit yourself..

i like being ablility to chnage requested boost per gear so if im at a drag event and i have either to much wheelspin or want more i can adjust accordinly..

I have not messed on the exhaust burble as some research yielded cars running lean or not to try with cats in place.

As i play a bit more i was update my thread.

I am not sure what stage 1 files yield locally but for an investment of
R1250 app
R 550 cable
R 567 Stage 1 file not to bad

Simplest method of flashing a car I have ever seen!

Thanks for the spirited driving was a blast and the figures and on the road are there... could hear that blow off valve from 250 meters away with the stage 1 file loaded....

This car is mental!

Thread update

Managed to source a replacement Tappet cover ..when I upgraded my pcv valve I found the crack..
Followed a couple online DIY threads and took about 2 hours to remove the tappet cover ..

Have decided while the car is standing to replace all the vacuum lines aswell as fit a oil catch can from Ats...
Will update as I progress..

Really keen to see this oil catch can install, looks like a really well made oil catch can. Pretty cool that it has that indicator.

Update

Got the replacement tappet cover cleaned up and checked for cracks.Bought a new gasket from bmw.
Took my time to replace the vacuum lines and moved the canisters from the left headlight to the right so that I could route the catch can .

Rob was kind enough to help and we use his 30 year old torque wrench ..
Torque was 8nm..

Took allot of patience to torque slowly ..
Front waste gate vacuum line was a bitch ...only line I could not change was the rear waste gate hose..i will change it when I do downpipes..

Fitting the catch can was simple jus to get the correct hoses and fittings was a pain but worked out pretty sweet..

Couple pics as I progressed...

Dynod the car Saturday evening to see all was in order ..
The car made a tad more could be temps etc or maybe the valve cover and and vacuum line change but negligle ..
Atleast all seems healthy

I think to many people have burnt using places to work on there cars.
I would rather spend the cash do some research and work on my own car if not to technical.
GOOGLE is a wonder ..you can literally google anything and there is a DIY.

But thanks sense of appreciation when you get it completed by yourself..
