E60 went into a pool

Hi Guys

I bought a 530d E60 from the auction they say it drove into the pool and I got a lock set (dme, cas, and a key,) from another driving vehicle but this one of mine doesn't even crank or switch on, and I can't get terminal 15 but I can get terminal 30, and the steering lock light is on but yellow and the battery warning light also comes on but the battery is new, I've managed to reset elv and battery register , but the lights still comes on.

Please help guys what I wanna know is what causes this car to start besides lock set , is it the steering column or junction box?

By reset of ELV and battery register I presume you have done diagnostics on the car. So did you get all the error codes from the car or someone did the reset and battery register?

If you can maybe post all the error codes given by the car then maybe we can be of better assistance and work out what is wrong with your bmw.

If its hydro locked, it's broken ....and it probably is since they told you it " drove" into a pool, if you're lucky maybe it "rolled" into a pool.

Brilliant you got yourself a foef full of problems. Im sure half the electronics are screwed and the engine is filled with pool water. Hope you didn't pay more than R5k for this vehicle. How the hell did they get it into the pool to start With:hammerhead:

does sound like you sitting with a very expensive paperweight, agree that it is probably hydro locked. Whenever you hear car and a lot of water (ie drove into a pool) got together, walk away.

You can't even sell it for parts, as there's soooo many modules in there that have been fried in the process.

The reason you don't get Term15 is probably that the JBE is busted. You'll also need an LCM as well. That's just the start.

Strip it for spares and move on.

Once almost bought a Bmw e36 from a police impound auction that had been swimming in a flood. I will never understand what goes through someone's mind when they decide to drive through flowing flooding that's about 2-3 feet deep when they can simply u turn and go another way.

Anyway, it was immaculate except for the stink of rancid water in the carpets and upholstery. Wouldn't start, wouldn't crank. Went away and came back with a mechanic who said don't buy it unless you intend to strip it.

The water goes everywhere, cooks and corrodes everything and being parked in the sun, to "dry it out" makes it worse because the water evaporates and gets in places you can never get it out.

Unless you bought this car for lucky packet money, you are on to a lone road called Dissapointment.

I second stripping it if you dont you will be chasing problems and spending more than it is worth till you get sick of the car...

hope you got it at a good price then maybe you can make money off this

I once nearly made a big car buy mistake as well.

Was madly in love with a 1991 Rsi Twincam Conquest a colleague was selling. Car stood for long, didn't start. He wanted R35k for it. Just as I was about to do the transfer I decided to look around a bit, same day I drove away in a 1996 1300 conquest, for the same price. turned out the Rsi needed a new motor.
