Damn really like this car , didnt want black but was willing to overlook it but damn the fuel bill will be crazy if i average 25l-30l /100km.

Don't despair, if you really drive carefully you should get 13L/100km, maybe even better open road. I'm just pigging it. Hard to resist though. Mine's sapphire black, it really looks good in black. Like mean mafia style ::rollsmile:
And remember, there are LDV's that have worse consumption. This car is a killer.
Watch this and you will want it even more. The car that is

Thank you , Thank you to all for the advise and personal opinions on the car , I really appreciate it and just goes to show what a great forum we have here. Loads of knowledge being shared. Im a 3 series whore but when it comes to the 5er im useless , i just know its sex on wheels

Im depressed at the issues owners are having with the M5s , lots of peoples telling me not to do it for various reasons and loads of persons saying its worth the shot, Im even more confused than a teenager at this point.

Saber you always know how to cheer me up buddy , thank you for that.

As much as this makes more sense and as much as I am a die hard M3 guy. I wanted something a bit more elderly , Something a bit more family orientated , something that shows elegance without that boy racer feel.

Damn the above wording really showing my age now i guess.

Im just taken by the 5series. Has been happening for a while now. Will possibly look at a 530d instead but with M5 styling

I've had no issues with serious $consequences. Touch wood. There is a lot of BS going around about the E60 M5.

Shaun, if you do you're homework properly, you can find one that's in excellent condition. This is just an awesome car! I probably would've gotten one if I was unable to get the 1M.

The best day of my life (motoring wise) was when I sold my M5. I loved the engine, that was it. The rest of the package was a let down. 80k worth of MP bills in the 7 months I owned it.

And dont be fooled by people telling you mine was a dud, go to any BMW dealership and speak to the service advisors about E60 M5's, they will all have the same story.

At any one point there are at least 2 to 3 E60 M5's being worked on for various gearbox/electronic related issues.

I have known plenty M5 owners and only one of them actually had no issues with his car. But then he did drive it like miss daisy.

Got back into an E92 M3 and have loved every trouble free minute with it.

There are only two type's of owners of E60 M5's

  1. Those who have had problems
  2. Those that are still going to have problems.

so say there was a huge repair bill on MP, is it not better as faulty parts would have been replaced?

Basically its quite simple, if you don't have enough cash, don't buy expensive cars. I couldn't give a sheit about MP or other insurances, it just a personal thing, insurance have become a racketeering business with big money from gullible consumers. The investors smile and the consumers oblige.

So I was interested in an E60 530d Msport. Found one, was 2009 Model, had around 90k on the clock. I wanted to add Motorite for peace of mind, got quoted R72 000 for 2 years 40k. Guess I am not gonna get an E60 530d M Sport

I agree, if you looking for something along these lines, you better have the moola to fit the bill if something breaks.

I cant even start to imagine what the M5 would cost in terms on maintenance.

Um no

I have owned 3 M3's, one E46, E90 and now the E92.

None of them have ever given me issues or left me stranded. They are far more reliable.

The 1M's use the N54 engine and as such are prone to HPFP issues. But most of those issues have been sorted with the latest fuel pumps.

I have the M6 and I love it - fuel is heavy but decent on highways. Not sure how similar a car it is to the M5 in terms of the engine and GB

They are the same, however, M6's seem to be more reliable. It could also be due to the fact that a lot fewer M6's were sold hence not hearing about their issues.

Cool, then there is no need for change, stay with what you love, different strokes for different folks.

I heard that there were less issues thats why I questioned the similarity...and yes you make a good point

crossing fingers that I have no issues, but have peace of mind as its still in MP and just to confirm my stance, I wont buy these type of cars (M3, M5, M6, x35's) without MP
