E60 550i possible purchase.

Hi all.

I am very new year, and would like to say hello, as well as place a vehicle im looking at buying.

the car is a 2006 E60 550i.
with 107 000km
going for R167 000

the car has receipts for the recent major service etc done at 101 872km, this includes:
valve stem seals
full service
mount brackets and a host of other items.

the car is exceptionally clean, and i will post up some pics for you.

i am going into this knowing the fuel consumption, and ive been reading review after review, as well as drivers videos, blogs etc to see what im getting into.

and so far im still happy.
on inspection, the car was clean, no leaks from what i could see on the splash tray under the motor, no damp points anywhere. either.

PLease let me know what you all think.
is it a good price fror the mileage?
I saw a thread of a member who sold his with 213xxxkm on it for 135k or there abouts.

is high mileage on these cars an issue?

thanks in advance.
Justin.

The price seems a little high, but not necessarily a deal breaker. They handle high mileage fine, especially if the valve stem seals have been done.

That looks so awsome ....thats polo money....
So much car for that price
Go for it....are you going to be using it everyday?
Go for it before somebody else does....looks very clean

Thanks for the comments guys.
There is another black one I'm looking at, selling for R125 000 with 189 000km instead.
Also looks pretty decent.

I will be using this car daily. I currently drive a well modified Opel Astra Coupe Turbo daily for work. And I already have clocked an impressive 315 000km in that beauty and she still drives impeccably. But I feel it's time for a gentleman's car now. Haha

Welcome Justin, I must say your car phases are random but this particular phase I fully support

Do you still have the Suzuki?

Haha Hiya Gav. Yes I still have the Suzuki.
Trying to get her sold to someone who spends more time on a 4x4 trail than I do. So if you know anyone. Feel free to send them my way.

I'm itching for the 550i. Wanted one in black for years.
This is the preface lift tho.

Motor indestructible if looked after

Check condition of cooling system
Gearbox could be iffy, if it feels our sounds funny, 30k
Car itself is on the pricey side..
Check for suspension wear, its a big heavy car

Other then that.... you will struggle to find a car of that caliber, grab it with both hands..

Doooo eeeet. If it has runflats. Get rid of that crap. Mine is still running run flats (purely because I'm cheap and got the car with brand new pilot sports)

The E60 is an epic epic motor car. You can't go wrong

That is an awesome price for this car. A steal basically. No doubt, buy it!

So really is well priced?

Regarding the statement about the full iDrive not being used, will this just be a case of going to the Stealership and updating software through them maybe? Both ECU software and infotainment systems?

I still don't get how a top-spec 550i leaves the factory without full iDrive. #SMH
Full as in Nav?

Im interested int his too. would that be an optional extra? or is it just the case of having the unit updated at the Dealer?

i know your Coupe...Hope you're keeping her Justin....she is a BEAUT!

Well i have asked about trade in, and they want to offer me R50 000 on the coupe, which i am just not prepared to take, if i sold, i wont take less than R90 000. as i know its clean, and one of a kind.

the Coupe is paid off, so i dont need to settle, i can buy the 550i as an extra car and still hold onto the Coupe, i just want to sell the suzuki Samurai though, if i can sell that, ill be happy.
