Awesome Andy, car looks stunning.
CSL software coming?
Nope. CSL works with a Map sensor on the vacuum rail and alpha N is actually not all that. MAF is far superior. The HP has double the data area. 1024kb file vs 512kb for all the other M3s. 64kb vs 32kb map tables. The tuners can chime in with the correct phraseology.

In short the 05 and 06 m3s are faster than the previous gens due to the HP ecu and larger intake manifold. There are some other changes as well but I believe these to be the major contributing factors.

Thanks for the comments guys. The carbon intake has been sold on. Decided to keep the engine bay oem. Unless I can source the CSL rail and intake then ill make an exception :)

I've always believed that a MAP sensor is better as the MAF may restrict some airflow? Also most aftermarket ECU's run a MAP sensor and I thought for the same reason.
I know a lot of the Miata guys abroad run a management system just to get rid of the (old, restrictive) MAF sensor and gain +-15whp.

Another Update

Went on durbun 2016 and what a Blast! The M was legendary  I just keep falling inlove with this car over and over. Met up briefly with some Fanatics at Umgeni and airport stretch :fencelook: Thanks to PJ for the last minute diagnostic! Fanatics FTW!

Some pics from the event and more to come. Also had some runs with a 1M and Lumina SS. Thanks to the owners for the friendlies.

Some more DIY goodness

So there was an intermittent hesitation that popped up and I suspected Vanos. Having checked the timing not long ago I was curious to see what the issue was.

I decided to strip everything down and inspect.

Vids to follow...

Now this was interesting to find. Leads me to think the car was worked on before.

Luckily I had a spare vanos lying around so swapped out the good bits

Since the big end bearings were done I've done around 2000kms including today's supertraxx sunday at Zwartkops

Seeing as I found some Michelin Pilot super sports for her I decided to punish the Toyo's that are on her at the moment.

Here is some links to some vids of the day.

I took it easy aside from the odd oversteer or powerslide, short shifting every gear at around 7000rpm to keep oil temps in check.

Fittingly changed the oil right afterwards. Feels good knowing one's car has fresh lube inside it :)

To say one is infatuated with a car is an understatement. This car is just epic...

After having the lovely new tyres fitted I decided to pay John at Leo Haese Pta a visit.

Booked her in for a brake fluid flush and aircon topup.

I can not thank John enough for the work carried out on the car at the rate they charge as well. I will always support them

hi . do all the dealers offer this service of testing the vanos , I also get this irritating hesitation when accellarating with my M3 , and it feels more pronounced when driving my e36 m3 AND alfa gtv6 back to back with the e46 , thought maybe it is the drive by wire throttle causing this sensation. I think I should also have the vanos tested on the car , who in Cape Town does this.

Most dealers should have equipment for the E46M3 still. Best is to call them and make a booking. Its fairly quick so you could get away with 1 or half hour labour charge.

Another Update.

From using it as a daily I picked up some stone chips on the windscreen and ended up replacing it this week.

At the same time I figured it a good time to replace the windscreen cover as well. The old one is still pretty good but what the hell.

Also adjusted the wipers blades a little lower. For aerodynamics ofcourse :) and then its also nice to have them hidden away while driving and clear from view.
