My xenon globe packed up this week, guess what a replacement GLOBE costs from the agents? You need to take a BEEEEG tube of KY with you.....R3100.00 for a frigging globe!!!!!!! I can buy an entire HID kit, globes, ballasts, harness, the works, Bosch, for around R1800.00.......WHERE TF does BMW get this type of price from???? And it's a special globe, seems to be made JUST for the E46....so, they just can!!!!!
And I hear the E90 globe costs over R4K!!!!
I naturally paid a bit less for this globe, after some 'negotiation', but still eye watering.....

I hate to say it, but you can generally get the OEM philips 85122 D2s xenon bulbs for about half the price the dealer charges if you buy them on ebay, and that is for a set of 2.

These are brilliant and the pick of the bunch in my opinion. They give a perfect white light without looking blue, and still have great light output. Not the cheapest option on the market, but well worth it.

Mmm, lesson learnt, that globe is the one....and way better priced considering it's for 2...Time was also an issue here, I needed it that day. But I think I should order a pair of these now that time is not an issue....:ty:

There are plenty of cheaper options in the market, and usually with a 6000k colour temperature. However, the light output is not as good as the Philips or Osram CBI, and as you mention, they don't last as long.

It's a simply cost/quality trade off.
