E46 start and idle problems

please would some one help, got a E46 323i
when we start it up in the mornings the car idles rough (rev's bounce up and down) or the car just dies, when we try drive the car it dies, this happens for about 15-20 mins from starting.
a bmw mac said its got to do with the coils, im not sure if im going to trust him as the car got worse after he worked on it.

gazza, there could be a ton of reasons why it would do that, most of them electronic.

I would take the car to somebody that has a decent diagnostics center, and see what errors are given, that should point you in the right direction.

Plug into diagnostics with a computer and find the fault. Have you got any air leaks?

dude, i had the same problem....it was really bad...sent car for diagnostic chceck and i had a misfire on cylinder 1 and 3...they reset the ecu and now its fine...

air leaks in your intake boot from the air cleaner to the manifold

ok boys, i sent the car in, came back, no problems, seems like the fuel pump was stuffed, funny coz BMW the glen replaced it about a year ago, so my invoice says. is this the life span for a E46 fuel pump?
