E46 SatNav

Hi guys, just wondering if anyone's had any experience installing the MKIV navigation system into an E46 BMW - I'm looking for a kit, and potentially someone to install it, though I don't mind doing the install myself.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Never done it, but would like to help/learn. I have experience with Audi's and general sound.

Im in JHB, and I want to do a retrofit of the DVD entertainment system for my E65, so would dig the experiance, your welcome to pop past my place as I have a fair bit of gear here as well.

Awesome - I'll need to find a source for the parts first though. I wonder if BMW will sell them to me.. And at what cost?

BMW will sell to you and also at a cost that you won't like. Spend some time researching the topic on the US sites and consider doing an import as this might be a lot cheaper. If you should miss a part, you can always get it locally then.

I've seen them about on eBay - a complete system for R15k+- but I don't know how reliable it'll be and warranties may be a problem

Anyway, yeah I won't rush into it, last thing I want to do is make a mistake.

warranties will be pretty much null and void, its a risk you take whenever doing anything like this.

Then again on the E46, you may find that selling yours and getting another with the Nav already factory fitted migh be cheaper... Same goes for something like a sunroof retrofit.

Yeah, but I guess half the fun is the install, isn't it?

Having your car be something different and being able to say "I did that" is worth the risk.
