E46 looks better. If it has the individual kit it still turns heads.

I would "prefer", but need to make the right choice. The newer, the better for me, but don't want to put myself in a financial nightmare.

Well this greatly depends on what you consider to be a financial nightmare, BMW's are generally pretty expensive to maintain, especially second hand ones. You could do things cheap though, but in the end you will pay for that as well.

Really?

As durable as the manual boxes? I highly doubt that.

diekoning said:Hi guys,
I found two potential models, km is a bit high on both, but that's why I need your advice.
The one is a BMW 330D 2006 with 188 000km, very good condition. Steptronic gearbox (please advise on this specifically)...is the km too much or can the 330D engin and gearbox easy do this and more if well looked after? What do I need to look out for...I'm not sure if the FSH is with BMW, still waiting on a response from seller.
The second one is a BMW 330D 2006 with 166 000km, but automatic gearbox and FSH with agents and a few months left on a universal warranty.
Your help will be much appreciated, or should I rather get myself a BMW 320i with e.g. 110 000km for the same price, if I understand correctly, the BMW 330D can take the extra mileage...very strong car?
The guy with the BMW automatic gearbox, just decided to keep the car, don't want to sell anymore, so that's out of the equasion...
DieselFan said:06 assuming it's an e90. The gearbox is around 30k to 45k. And the engine probably R100k that's doing it properly. There was a guy who rebuilt his e46 330d engine and that cost him 50k in parts alone.
