Your e46 M3 is factory fitted with a cold air induction system.

You have cold air from the center of the car as well as from the bottom both areas being high pressure airflow.

You cannot easily improve on it.

What about the carbon intake?

What about you listening?

If you wish to blow money be my guest :)

Read this again: YOU CANNOT EASILY IMPROVE ON THE STANDARD E46 M3 INDUCTION SYSTEM.

Tell me what makes you think that the M Engineers would have left anything on the table with the induction system when the motor has been taken to its total limit on performance?

Surely if there were gains to be had they would have done it as it is easy as well as cheap.

By Carbon intake, If you mean a csl style with an alpha N tune, then yes you will gain power.

Unfortunately, Normal intakes like Injen, Afe etc will not yield much power.

CSL carbon intake's are not cheap and require alpha N tune to work correctly. This tune alone is close to 10k.

Very good mod if you have the money, and the sound is amazing. Burgy had this on his car and it was the best sounding M3 I have ever heard. He can also do the Alpha N tune for you. BillyBob has a custom non original CSL intake on his car with Alpha N tune and it gained him some power and torque I believe. I would talk to him to get exact details.

I can get you a K&N CAi kit, let me know if you need a price had it on my e46 M3 ran 13.40 with it on in 2006

Ya. If you really want to improve the M3's breathing, you're looking at Carbon airbox, Alpha N tune and Schrick Cams...

Or... best bang for buck... 3:91 Diff ratio. :fencelook:

Cato, have you driven the e46 M3 up here in JHB???

Its kak. It's not the same car as down by the sea... it loses 40kw due to the altitude difference. So in response to your "its and M" theory, actually, in all fairness, it is no longer the car BMW designed it to be.

And then every "stock" 135i driver in JHB thinks they eat e46 M3's for breakfast. *I don't mean to start a 135i vs M3 war. Move along*

The car needs a better intake for up here in JHB. But unfortunately there is no such thing as a cheap intake solution. I still suggest doing a 3:91 diff ratio change to get better acceleration from the car and get it to feel like it's alive again.

or you could just supercharge it. :fencelook:
