As with any M3... you need to wait until you find the right one. It's something you shouldn't really settle on. Be patient and wait until you find the right one :thumb:

If you are looking for an M3, what mileage and year model are you looking for. What is your budget?

Most e46 M3's are starting to reach that age when Vanos seals and other expensive parts need attention. Have you taken any e46 M3's for a test drive?

Let me know more and I'll give you some advice on how to find one that's been looked after. There are some very significant tell signs to see if an M3 has been looked after or neglected. As most on this forum can vouch for me, I've pretty much seen every kind of problem an e46 M3 can have.

You can basically assume the VANOS seals will need doing after 10 years and at least 100 000km. I would say maybe a compression test on the engine and maybe a pressure test on the cooling system combined with a general inspection of the car (diagnostics, oil leaks, worn suspension and other bushes/mounts) will give some insight into the mechanical well being of the car.

Speed isn't everything.

Take your time to search for a clean, perfect example.
If you can, get one thats on or just came off motorplan, rather pay a bit more for immaculate one, trust me.
