E46 M3 Vanos Issues

Vanos codes are predominantly intermittent and in rare cases permanent.
We have only had one permanent error in all the cars that have driven in here.

If it is a solenoid related issue the codes will come and go.

What I find alarming is that you are now so used to driving a car with a malfunctioning vanos unit that you may well have become accustomed to it and are none the wiser as to the amount of power that you have lost.

Unfortunately there is no cheap solution to vanos error codes.

a1exander you are correct ... i have become accustomed to driving this car with a malfunctioning vanos.

I will have to get it sorted out though.. unfortunately i cannot claim from my warranty on it just yet because if an assessor has to inspect the car he wont find anything wrong and he will not approve the claim.
