Which boosted car you referring to? If It's a Turbo M I'll give it a miss lol

So today I have some more free time :)

Front end had to come off so I can give it the clean look and tidy up some wiring and plumbing.

Plate changer removed and foglights removed

Then simply a couple of 8mm screws inside the wheel wells and underneath the bumper. Then it slides out.

I believe the newer M3s also require 2 10mm nuts to be removed from underneath via an access hole.

Also fixed the wiring on the back of the dynavin unit so now I can watch my favourite shows as well

It's just a 2.5l turbo, no hassles, will find you at one of the next meets.

Sorry if I'm being a doofus- but what is in the RHS vent location?

Looks like a boost gauge of some sorts

Its a vent gauge. Depending on model it shows Boost pressure, 0-100 & 0-200 time, G Force, Top Speed, Torque, Power, Oil & Water temps and Air intake temps.
A really nice gadget to have esp on a car like this!

It's an Awron Boost gauge. Like what was said, has G meter, 0-100 0-200 AFR water and oil temps. Boost in Bar or PSI, boost temp etc.. Very handy indeed!

Edit : Here it is

http://www.insideperformance.de/en/datendisplay-3er-bmw-e46-und-m3_1276/

I'm spending most of today literally just removing most of the supercharger plumbing and wiring, cleaning it, sorting it, (read understanding it) and trying to improve and make things neater where I can.

Most of it seems ok, The oil catch can wasn't sealing properly and I think this could have led to some of the fumes we were experiencing inside the cabin.

Charge coolers cleaned along with air filter. Wiring tidied up. Will post pics soon...

How it took this long for this car to be snapped up is beyond me, lucky hands it has now fallen into though!
Congrats on the new car my friend! I will be needing a spin in this beast next time I'm up in JHB.

I am suffering serious withdrawal.

A short clip. Im hesitant to drive the car hard until I have figured out how everything works and that its all setup correctly. This is the only one I have for now.

Is that your fuel consumption indicator at 8.7L/100km ??? I call witchcraft....

Got a fair bit more done and more understanding to the systems as well.

Hose leaking some fluid for the charge cooler.

Now also can someone please give some advice on the fluid to be used. As I'm aware water has the best heat conductive properties from any fluid. Why their was anti freeze in the system is beyond me. The system probably hardly even worked. Also it was virtually empty. Good thing i decided to take it all apart :)

This was after flushing the system with clean water.

And finally the removal of the intake manifold

Now this manifold does seem crude. Upside is that it has the charge cooler fitted to it.

I've already sourced another (gorgeous) manifold from HPF thx to Burg. Im considering using this new one that also facilitates direct port injection for he 50/50 water meth.

Downside would be losing the charge cooling. However it will flow much better and the direct port should bring the temps down sufficiently.

I realise the temperature sensor will live inside the manifold and won't read the lowered temperature from the water meth. Still have to navigate around that one.

Im open to thoughts and suggestions...

Congrats on the new monster. Love the sound in the short clip. It seems you're very different to the normal new owner: you buy a car and then proceed to take it apart! Please note: I didn't say being different is bad. Wish I had your guts and knowledge to do stuff like this. Subscribed!

Can't wait to see what she was capable off.

PS: loving this Z4 a lot.

What's the compression ratio of the engine and what's the boost presssure? Doesn't the 50/50 water meth only spray at full throttle?

Stock compression 11.5:1

Boost is around 6 -7 bar (8.5-10psi) depending on how cool the air is.

Water Meth is a Devil's own progressive kit. I had a similar kit on my supercharged M3. There is a controller in the drivers glove box, you can set when you want the injectors to spray. It works on Vacuum pressure, so you setup at what PSI you want the controller to open the injectors on the water meth. You can also change the injector nozzle's to different sizes to allow more or less meth in.

Andy, the direct port water meth will cool down your intake temps a lot more than that charge cooler you have ever will.

That HPF manifold is a beaut. So jealous.

Enjoy her man.

I think the deletion of the charge cooler is a mistake, meth kits can only do so much to drop IATs. Rather build a better design charge cooler or plumb in an intercooler. If the HPF intake is aluminium then surely it can be modified to take laminova cores to make it a charge cooler.
