E46 M3 Cab

Hi guys,

I missed the opportunity to buy the above car from an advert on this forum, by Anthony. Please note that I do not know Anthony personally.

I have found the dealer that has it for sale @ R299k. Does anyone for sure know if this car has been in an accident? My question is based on the 'for sale' thread and the issue with the front headlight and it's brackets.

What would be a fair price to buy this car at? I will be buying it blindly as I am based in Durban and currently in hospital with a long stay. I need all the advice you guys can give me on the condition of the car and if it's worth the listed price. This is urgent as I do not want to miss out on it, it's already R75k more than the opportunity I missed. Please advise.

Boss, you have more than enough reasons to not buy the car
1. you cannot go see it
2. you have no history on the car
3. You willing to pay R75k over the last price which did not get nay attention on the BMW forum, what makes it so special that you spend 75k extra and make that dealer extra rich?
4. dealers are not always the best to buy ESPECIALLY if they are over-pricing a car

Stay in hospital, focus on getting better as soon as possible. Shop around properly and get yourself a car that you have done the 100% on, then at least of something happend you can say, you at least had a chance of seeing it first. Not easy buying a car without seeing it.

Thanks for the reply. There is a clean one in Durbs with 50k odd mileage but asking price is R399k. I'm effectively looking for a E60 M5 or E90 M3 but struggling to find one that is worth it.

If you guys know of any for sale please let me know, it's highly appreciated and carries a significant meaning or purpose (hopefully the way I put it in words makes sense)

Similar thoughts, if you're struggling to get somebody to check a car - maybe PM Gizmo, he checked out a few for me, always took pics and notes to let me know and was pretty good with what to look out for. In all likelihood if you're buying an E46M3 it'll need some work anyway - something Gizmo knows how to do as well.

There are some nice E60 M5’s around. 70k or so kms in good condition for R300k. V10 M5 and 6’s cheaper than V8 m3’s. A lot more car for the money, but a bit more maintenance costs and probably a crap load more fuel costs, but V10 so worth it.

Are you specifically looking for a M3 cabrio? Would a Z4M not give you the same thrills? Easier to find clean Z4Ms than E46 M3s in my opinion.
