I need to replace my key and recode the immobilizer system on the car. Any ideas on the cost to do so?

Last I checked it was R 1900, from BMW i'm sure it is much cheaper now.

My key was replaced under motorplan last year January and the cost was R1797.01. I don't think you will get it cheaper then that.

If you dont find anyone in JHB, then call this guy here in Pretoria: Jacques 012 346-6450, tell him Francois Spietkop, the guy with the blue AC Schnitzer E46 refered you. Good luck. :)

Well, thats not actually the case.

The new key's are being manufactured using non BMW original tools and then coded accordingly. For the dealer to do it, it has to come from germany.

do it before you loose your only key, because then bmw will charge you about R9k for a new EWS, 2 keys and full lockset...

Spoke to Mike at Fast serve Hazelwood, R1800 ALL inclusive, they provide the key, cutting and coding.

Or if you bring your own key R1250.

And it's close to menlyn, so for me its a win!
