e46 key problems

a week ago i started having trouble opening n locking my car with key remote. at that stage i thought it might be time to replace the battery perhaps, but a few days ago the key totaly stop working (meaning lockin and un-locking). now the car will only lock and unlock if i insert it into the keyhole on driver side. any suggestions or place i can take it to get fixed??? please assist. im am driving 2003 e46 320i

YES CAR STARTS WELL THE ONLY PROBLEM I HAVE IS A CANNOT REMOTE LOCK AND UNLOCK ...............

Do u have a spare key to compare to?

You can replace the battery yourself, then the key has to be re-initialised to the EWS. Read your user's manual and use the google machine.

I got mine changed from a guy in Azadville, charged me R200.00 and did it while i waited as well.
