Petrol gauge, just fill up every 400-500km , I am sure if you search the forum/international forums you find some info.

I had the same probelm with my ate's. I now have OEM on the front and ate on the back with surebrake brake pads, much better.

It could also be you lower control arm bushes, them them first and check if the shudder is still present. Speak to Sean from axis engineering (CLICK HERE)

Fuel gauge issue is the fuel pump as the level sender is integrated into it. This happens to almost all e46 as they get older. You can either learn the quirks of the fuel gauge by doing monitoring the distance you have covered on each tank as a sanity check or replace the fuel pump

Any idea what a fuel pump might cost??

What does the fuel pump look like, because this is the first time I hear that the pump and fuel gauge sender unit is a two-in-one?

Depending on the type of pump, you are looking at about R600-R1000 from a reputable spares dealer such as Midas or Autozone. Also give Goldwagen a try for the fuel pump.

The In-tank (transfer pump ) is the one that they speak of , It is indeed a two in one unit .

Pump attaches to the fuel level sender which forms the housing .

I replaced just the pump on my car with a bosch unit . But If the sender is gone , you have to replace the whole thing , pump included as nobody sells that part separately.
