Hello,

Any advice where to get new parts to fix this problem? The rubber coating on my console is peeling (in afrikaans dit 'gee af').

This link shows exactly what is happening: http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1430450&highlight=trim

In the example above the guy renovated his used parts. I just want to buy new parts and have them fitted.

I think this is the part I need to buy: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=AX52&mospid=47662&btnr=91_0481&hg=91&fg=35

But this part doesn't seem to include the covers for ashtray and cubby above the ashtray which are also peeling.

Ideas and advice appreciated.

getting them painted/redone would probably be your best bet buying new will cost you 1000s and if you get from the scrap yard you will get the same as what you have now...

Thanks. I really don't mind buying new ones though. Refurbs are never and good as new and this part is a high use area so I'd rather get new.

:pimp:
you can look up "Bavarian Auto parts" under the members list.
He is here in Pretoria but might be able to get the part you are looking for cheap-cheap :thumb:
Or, you can just phone him: Willem 012 751 7243, tell him Francois Spietkop told you to phone. :)

I had the black trim surrounding the gearshift as well as the grey centre console, on my 2003 325 E46 resprayed. Looks good as new. The guys came to my workplace and did it on the spot. The dealer I bought the vehicle from paid for it. I was told that the cost was R1500.00. These guys specialize in spraying interior trim and leather and they do work for most vehicle manufacturers. I unfortunately have their bussiness card at home, will post their details here over the weekend. Regards. RP.
