Sorry guys no news yet ... head should have been back from engineering by now so we shall see. And the stealers don't have a loan car for me as they are saying 3 of theirs are at the panel beaters and they only pay for rentals if your car is still under warranty

Update: Mech said the engineers are still "assessing" the head, don't know what that means but that is the status...

Looks like they are messing you around. I mean its easy to take small stuf off an e46 like yours thats trade in and check it on your car, aspecially the alternator. Logic says if you changed somthing and your car has new symptoms then the thing you have changed is the root of the problem 90% of the time. Like they say todays mechanics at BMW are just fitters because they just fit spares and thats all and a bit off PC work

My sentiments exactly but what the computer does not detect as a problem ohhh nnooo it can't be that.

But here is an update, diagnosis from the engineering company reckons that there was low compression in one of the cylinders and now I am getting an entire new head with pistons, rings etc....

Damn it ... hope this works then I will have a new car, well almost :thumbsup:

No no not always for the 4 days I work morning shift then thats when Im at work. then Im 4 days off again and then 4 days late till 12 and so it goes on. people fly early to where they want to be in the morning. well what if that does not work? Ish its expensive. well let us know when they finished and you have the results. Ive worked on many cars with fuel injection and even if they have low compression in one piston you will have a misfire and not an Idle dip

I wish it was ... they can't find the head in SA so they are importing from Germany ... should be here next week ..

Haha i'm sure it will be expensive but that is the beauty of motorplan if you still have one ...

I will get a print out of the total expenses once they are done and the problem is fixed ... so far I have claimed and gotten things replaced to the value of about 80K ...
