My 99 model 328i is idling high. As you take your foot off the gas it drops to about 1000rpm then after a few seconds it slowly drops to about 850 which is where it stays it never drops below that. It does this regardless of whether engine is at operating temperature or not in fact on cold start its even a little higher.
Recently did the head after a blown head gasket. Not quite sure what could be causing the high idle. Its not erratic or hunting at all just high, I need to figure out why it is not sitting at the regular 600rpm
My fuel pump recently packed up and I used a non original part from autozone. The pump itself looks identical to the original however I did notice that the box rated it at 4bar and if I am not mistaken the original is 3.5bar. Would the fuel pressure regulator compensate for this? is this the possible cause for the high idle?
Other than this car is running pretty smooth, no codes thrown after I ran diagnostics. Possibly lacking a bit of power and feeling a bit flat but hard to tell since I have not driven the car in quite some time since it sat after the head gasket blew.
