so I need to be pushed into the correct direction before I thumb suck what the problem could be. I hope this makes sense

when the air con is on, the facial vents are cool but you can feel there is some heat coming through (that's including the heat regulator thing in the middle vents is on cold) but when I put the demister vents on or the feet vents on, together with the facial vents, they blow hot but the facial vents are nice and cold.

now being a black car and summer here there is no way I can handle it. I will see a heat stroke one of these days.

I have taken my car in for air con check up no leaks detected and gas refilled with oil. its better then it was I must say but still its nowhere near getting the car cool during a summers day. and going through smash and grab hotspots id rather not have the windows open

Heater valve stuck open, letting hot coolant run through the heater matrix in the cabin. Common issue for older BMWs.

Thank you Gizmo

it was the heater valve. took it out cleaned it up as there was dirt from the water that was holding it open. cleaned that up added some grease and put it back. bled system and she is good as new.

its like it should be an ice block

Its located in engine bay on the passenger side of the vehicle, mounted on the shock tower has two pipes connected to it
mine looked like this( I took this pic off the internet)
inv_002899_1525326408.jpg

the small housing one you take the 4x torque screws out

there will be a plunger looking rubber and this thing attached to it (again this pic was taken off the internet),
pic5-01_1469965386.jpg

I left the plunger thing in tacked all I did was cleaned it off with a cloth as there was dirt from ther water that built up on the shaft which stopped that shaft from moving up and down freely. and added some grease to it to give it some lubrication. put it all together and tested the car

hope that helps

if not watch this clip pretty much the same thing
but you will see what I mean when you do it

Does anyone know where this valve sits on the E39 diesel? Google reveals it might sit below the cylinder head and so the entire cooling system will need refilling if you remove this valve...?
