E46 Facelift, Pre Facelift Question

AFAIK the facelift was introduced mid to late 2001, so there were not pre-face lifts manufactured in 2003

I suspected as much, but can someone else confirm this as well, because I just saw an E46 pre-facelift advertised as a 2003 model huh?!

Absolutely not. The only way it can be possible is if the car was manufactured during the prefacelift run, but then only registered for the first time in 2003.

Maybe pre facelift Coupé and convertible?

Was thinking the same thing, as the Pre F/L design was on the Coupe and Convertible and on the M3 later than 2003...I think

Good point. That is true.

On the sedan, the facelift was definitely in 2002 onwards. there's no way u gonna get a prefacelift in 2003, that would be something where it was purchased, stored and only registered in 2003.

In all likelihood, it is typo in the ad, or the seller is hugely misfired, or trying to pull a fast one.

It is just weird, the price matches the model (a pre-facelift) but the year is wrong - it is just that buyers who do not know the difference will fall for the trick, and they will think what a bargain for a 2003 model :banghead:

Yeah I have an October 2001 E46 sedan and it's a pre-facelift. I'm 99% sure that the facelift was from 2002 and BMW never looked back. If BMW are going to start bringing out older models then I'm going to wait with bated breath for them to make a few 2015 E39 M5's. Black on black for me please!
