Hey all...

had a mishap this morning. while parking at the shops, the front part of the bumper got snagged onto the pavement a little. as soon as i heard the noise, i stopped and put into reverse slowly. i heard a shrieking, scraping noise and the front right part of the bumper got pulled away quite badly.

the bumper didnt come off completely, but its very clearly out of alignment now.
i was going to try and refit it this evening, but not sure how to do this, or if anything may have got damaged that might stop it from fitting correctly again.

any advice?

thanks!

there are probably some screws that damaged on the right where the bumper meets the fender. The bumper is able to come off the slider without damage so you might be lucky there. The fender lining also screws onto the bumper, so that might also have broke or just came undone.

ok cool thanks..... i'll try and find a DIY on youtube once i get a decent internet connection to see how its done. im just hoping nothing major broke off, because i really cannot get any spares for this car in Zim. :thumbdo:

you'll have to strip the whole bumper of to refit the skin.....it fastens onto the stiffner with plastic pop out rivets.....it also looks like it got pulled of the side plastic guide that holds it in alignment with the bottom part of the fender...jack the front of the car, both wheels of the ground then start stripping from the fender liner extension....its a simple job to do....good luck

thanks guys... so just an update:

i got the bumper off and found that the plastic bracket that has 4 plastic "welds" to the bumper itself, actually tore clean off. the bracket is what slides onto the white hanger to keep it aligned.

alot of pratley putty, alcolin quickfix and RTV gasket maker...and 4 hours later...everything is back on the car. its not 100%, but i'd say 99% (edge of the bumper is slightly off from the fender) back to original now.

i'll try and post some follow up pics in the morning....but ermagherd..this was a shitty job.
