Yeah prices are hectic!

So I am just trying to figure out the sound of this car. The biggest stumbling block of the whole project, I have to figure out a way to put the audiobank in the boot now so will probably have to splice some wires :nonono:

This is been taking very long to get done, but decide it's time now and planning to fit it before getting supercharged, for the main reason of seeing usefull stuff like air intake temp, oil temp ect.

Here are some updated pics. Everything is done now just waiting on a new PCB for the touchscreen as the domestic thought it was a good idea to throw it into a random box..

The carputer is in and was fine tunning it the whole weekend making some afjustments to themes and software as I was not happy with the draw regions being uneven. Here are some pics

In the last pic you will see the bike amp in the glove box. The will go below the gm5 unit after the testing phase is done and I am 100% happy with the sound. Currently I am extremly happy and will now go on doing the custom Ibus integration, but for now I can see the basics and use the steering wheel controls.

The biggest concern was that the pc might overheat in that location but after a trip to mpumalanga today I overheated before the computer showed any signs of overheating and had to turn the ac on.

The power consumption is extremely low, spent yesterday in the car around 4 hours fiddling with settings and the car cranked like nothing drew power (Ignition was on Acc).

Will add some screenshots tomorrow night

What an amazing project.
I got some first hand experience with it today and I have asked him to price 10 units for me.

Once he has his system dialled in we may be able to offer something for those users who may be inclined to have one fitted.

Thanks guys. Been loving the carputer and it was installed just at the right time. My thermostat got shot and in return ny elect engine cooling fan didn't switch on, while navigating in traffic the comouter started warning ne about temps reaching 115c but the gauge was fine. As I went to the left lane the temps shot sky high but luckily I was already paranoid driving in the left lane and just pulled over.

So I have decided to try another frontend software due to huge amount of bugs in riderunner, the new frontend is Centrafuse. I have to say it uses about 50% less processing power, it has a better overall look and plugins are way more stable, plus it also allows for custom plugins

I have used it only today and must say it impressed me.

The next in the todo list is a proper TPMS (tyre pressure control) system, the car does have factory fitted bluetooth, tpms ect fitted but have to admit it is adged just like the e46 radios are, so they are getting replaced. The monitor system I am going for is just as discrete, it replaces the valves on the tyres and then report heat and exact tyre pressure, also, will have one fitted to the spare as well so that I will never be left with a flat spare wheel. This system will obviously have a frontend on the pc as well to report what tyre temps are and the current tyre pressure. ect.

my main aim for the whole project is to add more fun during a daily commute, and also justify the system in a racing setup. Currently it shows everything engine related, cam timing, fuel pressure, intake temps ect.

I have modified the system a bit, its now started up before the car :fencelook: no delay at all.

Have a look at some pics underneath. They aren't the best quality as they have been taken with phone.

Thanks guys for all the kind words.

Yeah I have truly been enjoying it, the car has been standing the last 2 days and driving the X5 to get to the 2000km mark but I have to say I mis the 330 especially now with the carputer, it makes it 500% more enjoyable to drive, the photos just doesn't do it justice at all!.

I will be fiddling with some cameras the weekend, and a arduino board to make my own "high-tech" pdc / camera system for the car. Hopefully it won't take 2 years :fencelook:
